Why Are There Dead Links on this Site?

A STATEMENT ABOUT DEAD LINKS
Dead links are terrible. I hate them. They make web-surfing a slightly frustrating to completely unbearable experience. However, they are an unfortunate fact of life on the internet - especially when related to a rapidly changing topic and on sites such as this one that link to many diffferent outside locations. In addition, there are many sites related to anesthesiology that are run by individuals rather than professional organizations - so these links often change without warning.

Dead links on this site fall into two categories:

Links located in previous articles: these are links that are mentioned in the dated articles that I do. These features are written on a specific date and represent original content. The links are working when the feature is published, but may become unusable sometime thereafter. I do not change the content of weekly features once they are published (and I think this makes sense), so these links may be "forever dead".

Links elsewhere on the site: specifically in the Links section. These links represent current material and should be working close to one hundred percent of the time. Of course, these links break too - but we really try to make these links dependable for you! These links get checked and rechecked by hand - as much as humanly possible: maintenance involves removing dead links, revising changed addresses, and adding new sites. If you should find one of these links that does not work, please help me by notifying us!
